Strengthening Veteran Care: CareView’s Growing Impact Across the VA Healthcare System
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to delivering safe, high-quality care to the nation’s Veterans while navigating increasing patient acuity, workforce pressures, and the need for greater operational efficiency. CareView Communications is helping address these challenges by bringing virtual observation and patient safety technology to VA medical centers and Community Living Centers (CLCs) across the country.
CareView has been supporting the VA since 2016, with its technology deployed across multiple Veteran Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) and VA facilities. In 2024, CareView strengthened its relationship with the VA through a national Memorandum of Understanding–Interconnection Security Agreement (MOU-ISA), designed to streamline system support and updates.
Advancing Patient Safety
At the heart of CareView’s impact is its Patient Safety System, which provides continuous remote observation for Veterans who may be at increased risk for falls or other adverse events. The platform combines real-time video and two-way audio communication with advanced motion detection and CareView’s patented Virtual Bed Rails® and Virtual Chair Rails® technologies.
By enabling trained remote observers to monitor multiple Veterans from a centralized location, CareView gives bedside teams an additional layer of support. Clinical staff can receive timely alerts and intervene when potentially unsafe activity is detected—helping create safer care environments while reducing dependence on traditional one-to-one sitters.
Expanding Across the VA
CareView’s VA footprint continues to grow. Recent deployments and contract awards have expanded support to facilities including the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System, Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center, Atlanta VA Medical Center and its CLC, and Central Alabama VA Medical Center. These initiatives demonstrate the scalability of CareView’s technology across diverse VA care environments.
Earlier deployments have also included facilities such as the Baltimore VA Medical Center, Central Arkansas VA Healthcare System, and San Francisco VA Health Care System, reinforcing CareView’s long-standing commitment to Veteran care.
